Trừng Thủy Temple (Société Bouddhique Trung-Thuy), founded in 2008 and officially registered as a charity by the Canadian government (Registered Charity), is located in the east of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is a practice center that integrates Vietnamese and Han Chinese Buddhist traditions. The temple upholds the spirit of "meditation in life, life is meditation," propagates the Pure Land practice, and guides the public to study the Dharma and settle their body and mind.
Pure Land Chanting Practice The temple takes the Pure Land chanting practice as its core, regularly organizing collective chanting activities and the Eight Precepts Retreat, providing opportunities for devotees to focus on practice. The pure and solemn sound of chanting helps devotees to settle their body and mind and experience the extraordinary power of the Pure Land practice.
Meditation and Mindfulness Temple ceremonies incorporate meditation and mindfulness sessions, offering beginners and practitioners methods for calming the mind and cultivating concentration, helping them to experience inner peace and wisdom, thus attracting local residents to get closer to the Dharma.
Vegetarian Culture Trừng Thủy Temple actively promotes vegetarian culture, regularly organizing vegetarian buffet events, providing the public with fresh, delicious, and healthy vegetarian dishes, advocating a compassionate way of life, which is deeply loved by devotees.
Compassionate Care The temple undertakes chanting assistance and end-of-life care services, helping the deceased to transcend suffering and be reborn in the Pure Land through chanting and reciting sutras, while also comforting the grief of families and conveying the warmth and care of the Dharma.
The temple holds routine group practice and worship activities. The group practice includes chanting the Buddha's name, reciting sutras, and worshiping the memorial tablets enshrined in the temple. All devotees are warmly invited to participate to accumulate good deeds and embrace the compassionate wisdom of the Dharma. Group practice and chanting are not only a way to purify one's own mind but also an opportunity to foster good connections with others. Through focused chanting, we can let go of distractions, enhance inner peace and mindfulness, and dedicate the merits to the departed souls and all sentient beings, spreading light and tranquility to every heart.
